Valdina Ranch was once a thoroughbred breeding farm in the 1930's and is now a lodge for bird hunting, events, retreats and weddings. With acres of majestic views, big Texas skies, and breathtaking sunsets, and activities for everyone -- it is a spectacular location for Macmanus Mania.
The unique lodge, constructed from a solid concrete & brick horse barn originally built in 1941, features an intriguing history and lots of space:
Just because the sleeping rooms are set up this way doesn't mean they have to be used as shared units. For example, 1 person could take a room with 3-queen beds all to herself or rent one of the rooms upstairs and make sure nobody rented the shared room on the other side of the bathroom (yes, I'm talking about Tricia).
The upper level also features a very large bar area with 2 large screen TVs and a game room next door. Directly across from the bar area are a couple of large tables for dining and a commercial kitchen.
A covered pavilion overlooking the property is the perfect place to sit outside and chat. The pavilion also features:
The pavilion leads you to the pool and hot tub. The pool has a sitting ledge all the way around for - well - Carole and Patti, let's admit it. There is plenty of seating by the pool.
Entertainment and activity comes in many forms on this place. You have shooting (both shotgun and rifle), billiards, swimming, golf (2-hole closest to the pin), and much more that is detailed on Activities/Amenities page.
Valdina Ranch is located in D'Hanis, a little north and west of Hondo. Once you turn off of 90 and start to get on to county roads and private roads, your GPS may not know where the heck you are!
